Poem: Blood Upon Its Hands

BLOOD UPON ITS HANDS

If you are Transgender

Many places in the world

Make it criminal for you to just exist

Your life is on the line

When targeted by hate police

And the government puts you on their kill list

Human rights discarded

While religion has its say

Proclamations that we live our lives in sin

Making it their mission

To root out those evil queers

A modern-day crusade looks to begin

Trans misogynistic

Policy is commonplace

Using cultures and traditions as a shield

Persecuting us for how

We look or who we love

Your life depends on keeping who you are concealed

Diplomacy promoting

Global LGBT rights

Countries around the world held to account

Abuses and atrocities

Continue piling up

Winning this war of hatred's paramount

Living life afraid

Is not the life that we deserve

They might kill you if your gay or you are Trans

A global effort's needed

To combat this tragedy

The whole world has got our blood upon its hands
