This was the very first poem I wrote while in hospital, and it remains dear to my heart. The Transgender flag is a powerful symbol for our community, and these colours run through my veins.

BLUE, PINK & WHITE
A butterfly. A chrysalis.
The changing of your form
Transforming mind and spirit
Emerging from your storm
An altered state of being
A switch, a shift, a change
Embracing life on your terms
With a body rearrange
The evolution of a woman
Transitioning before your eyes
And your even getting rid
Of your genitalia surprise
Your sprouting brand new parts now
As puberty comes on again
Your curves will get you notice
While you attract delicious men
Whether your pre or post-op
Doesn't matter anymore
You've become a princess
Or perhaps pussy galore
Reaching for your life's dream
Will make everything alright
We proudly fly the colors
Of the blue, pink, and white
